There are a heap of excuses when it comes to working out and ive heard them all! Here are my ways of overcoming the top 7 excuses!
IM TOO TIRED
This is actually a funny one as workout give you more energy! You may feel tired now and even a bit sluggish initially, but I can guarantee after the workout your going to get an awesome buzz. If feeling “too tired” is a reoccurring issue, maybe you need to take a look at your sleep patterns as well as nutrition as these two areas could be impacting on your energy levels.
ITS TOO HOT / COLD OUTSIDE!
This is when it pays to have an weather action plan and you know what? Your home is the perfect location. Clear some space in your living room, bedroom or garage and try this body weight circuit. If you have some hand-held weights (or something heavy you have around the house) for a basic weights session go for it!
5 Rounds for time:
10 Push Ups
20 Sit ups
I DONT HAVE THE TIME
This one is easily solved! If it is important to you, you will find a way. Even the busiest executives in the world have time for their health. Wake up 10mins early and do a tabata session (thats only 4mins!!), do 100 squats before you get into the shower, park 1km from work and walk, take the stairs at work. There are a million and one ways to cram in a bit of physical activity each day.
IM OUT OF MOTIVATION
First you miss one session, then it gets hard to commit to going back for the next one. It eventually becomes a cycle. Deciding to workout for a few minutes a day, a few times a week breaks the ‘not-wanting-to-exercise’ feeling.Placing too ,uch pressure on yourself to workout an hour a day, 6 days a week can be overwhelming. Try 20mins a day, for 3 days a week! Once you’ve started, it’s so much easier to keep going and up your game from there.
GOING TO THE GYM IS EXPENSIVE
Any space can be used for a workout — indoors or outdoors. There are lots of different ways top workout that don’t rely on gym equipment (beach, body weight exercises, hill sprints, tabata or yoga). But, if you actually look into the value that certain gyms provide, then they can be well worth the money – providing you with accountability, nutrition support, an encouraging community, someone to watch over your technique and so on. You just have to weigh up what is best for you!
I DONT KNOW WHERE OR HOW TO START
Everyone has to start somewhere. No one is born knowing how to correctly do chin-ups, even experienced trainers are always learning, so don’t feel like you’re the only person who doesn’t know how a weight machine works. Any trainer would be happy to share technique tips to get you the most out of your workout and you know what? there are so many more people out there who feel overwhelmed and maybe intemitated to start off with, but you just have to take the first step and GET STARTED!
ITS GOING TO HURT
Im not going to beat around the bush, yes you will probably hurt, in your first week, then your body will adapt. What you once thought was hard will become easier and you will continue to become faster and stronger. When it starts to hurt in a workout, this is the perfect time to cash in! Muhammad Ali once said, “I only start counting when its starts hurting” – GREAT ADVICE!
